View Full Version : Original 1969 Z/28 X33 car whats it worth??? ericsz Oct 6th, 05, 01:58 PM Just wondering what this car is worth without the 302, I threw a rod through the side of the block a few years back what is it worth with a 400 sbc?? Just curious. Rack Man Oct 6th, 05, 02:08 PM We are going to need some more info on your car and maybe some pics. Has it been totally restored or what type of condition it is in...Is it all original aside from the motor...? Help us out a little bit more with some detail and then we could probably give a good estimate Dan RS3SDL2MG Oct 6th, 05, 05:53 PM them 1969 302's must have been jinkst from the factory , they are alway's either blown up rod's got thrown they would freeze and bust a lot , the thing I don't understand is that nobody can ever come up the reamains of any of the 302's ? say if you had an original 302 1969 Z/28 camaro and just had (THE) 302 block with it even if it was unuseable it would still confirm the car as with maybe a partial vin match , but they are alway's missing ? and alway's a interesting story why they are missing ? interesting , Bob Brissie Oct 6th, 05, 06:01 PM Actually my dad's 69 Z28 RS was grenaded at the race track. It was spinning through the traps at 8 grand, and the camshaft broke in two, causing a real mess. I can still remember the look on my dad's face as we hoisted the destroyed DZ block into the dumpster. The number 2 rod exited the side of the block, and every pushrod tried to exit through the oil pan. UGLEEEE..... Wish I had the car and even the cracked block now.... It was hugger orange, black standard with console, gauges and factory cowl induction hood. X33 D80 car. He bought it from the second owner in 1971 for 1800 bucks! If we had only known.... But to answer the man's question, you'd need to take the crazy Z values of today, and deduct about ten grand for the DZ 302 IMO.(That's about what it's take to piece one together the right way). Without the DZ 302, she really is'nt quite a Z. JohnZ Oct 7th, 05, 04:04 PM THOUSANDS of them blew up, because people drove the snot out of them all the time, wound them to 7500-8000 constantly, abused them unmercifully 'cause they'd wind to the moon, and the rods were always the weak link at those rpm levels. When mine blew up a year after it was delivered, it went out in a blaze of glory and took one head with it too; a "CE" block lives in there now with one original 186 head and one '70 186 head that was ordered along with the ''CE" block. Not many solid-lifter engines lasted more than a year or two in those days. ChevyThunder Oct 7th, 05, 09:09 PM X33 RS Z with non original motors , driver quality going for 20-25 whenever I see them come up... that original car they pulled out of a swamp rusted from top to bottom went for near 20k |
