I bought a crate engine that was run in and dyno tested. Upon recieving the engine I installed it in the car in march and shipped the car off to body shop jail. Should I be concerned about this engine sitting for over 6 months without being turned over, or am being a worry wart. any suggestions.

Sorry guys, I meant to put this in the "Engine Section" .

Thanks Rich

If I could, I would remove the plugs, disable the ignition, hold WOT, and crank for 20 second intervals till good oil pressure is indicated.

Then install plugs, enable ignition, set choke, and start. Run engine at fast idle till operating temp is reached.

Then drive it like ya stole it!!

I would prime the oiling system first, then turn it over a few times by hand.

If you've already broken in the cam and driven her a bit, she's fine. If you need to ease your mind, have somebody at the shop fire it up and let her get warm.

No harness in the car, no battery,no cables going to starter.

only real choices, are spinning by hand and priming by hand, just not sure if I should drop some oil down the cylinders?

Squirt two or three squirts of good old MMO in each cylinder and turn her over using the starter when you want to fire her up.

(Marvel Mystery Oil) -- GREAT old-fashioned "Top-Oil" lube, imho..

Read the back of a small bottle to see it's intended uses..

PS., and it did have a small bottle of GM's "EOS" in the oil, didn't it??

not too tuf to bolt the battery cables to the starter and block, set the battery on a crsate and connect it, and hit the solenoid terminals with a screwdriver.... round and round she goes. MMO in the cylinders is a good idea, as is spinning it in 20 second shots till the oil pressure comes up.

I still believe there's nothing to worry about. I've started and run cars years after they've sat in a shed or somewhere.

If you need the peace of mind, simply rent a an oil primer tool and re-prime before you run it again. The cam and lifters are the weak spot, and they're already broken in.
