I have a 1969 RS/SS 350/300. Does anyone recommend using lead substitute in the fuel? If so, how often should I add it to the gas tank? Also, what about octane booster, does this stuff work or is it a sham?
Thanks for the help.....

Don’t bother with the lead stuff. There was a push in the early days of unleaded gas to scare people into believing that if you ran unleaded in a leaded motor it would burn up the valves due to lack of lubrication. This urban legend was promoted by car dealers and EPA Zealots to get people to buy newer unleaded motor vehicles. What they didn’t understand was that the General provided so much tolerances in the valve seals and guides that the leaded motors would run just fine on unleaded because enough oil would get by and keep the valve stems slicked up. I run 89 Oct. in by 69 350 and have never had a problem, and you won’t either. Welcome to the site, there is a lot of smart guys here and tons of good information.

It's a matter of how loaded the engine is (exhaust temp). If you're towing with it or spend a lot of time at the strip it might help. For most of us with V8s in these fairly light cars, they are just loafing most of the time so no worries.

From every thing I have read about these products you should save your money. Read on the bottle-one can treats 10 or 20 or whatever gallons. This means you need to add a can every time you put in more than 10 gallons. Those advertising specialists can really come up with fantastic products at low, low prices, just have your card ready and call this 800 number!!

Several engine mechanics I know advise that Marvel Mystery Oil in the fuel is a very good idea.
