I am looking for some information on the t56 6 speed tranny in the 96 Camaro.
I am having a problem with the skip shift. I purchased a engine lt1 and 6 speed t56 tranny for a 96 Camaro. I converted a 3,4 car to the lt1 6 speed. Once installed I can not get second gear. I have been getting parts, not these, from Tony Ramos and he has helped me a lot. Any way in a recent discussion I found out that the tranny should have second gear when the car is not running. The skip shift energises the skip shift and by passes second gear. My tranny can not get second gear unless I manually , electrically, energized the skip shift selenoid. To my understanding this is just the oposite way the tranny is designed to work. I am guessing someone worked on the tranny and installed the skip shift parts backwards. I am not sure if this is possible but it makes sense to me. I would appreciate any feedback I can get on this probem. If I am in left field please straighten me out. I have 11 Camaros that I am collecting for now and would like to try this out under power for satisfaction. Please advise me with any info that is available. Thanks Bob ramlop@ironbay.com
