I have a 87 camaro with the trunk pull down motor. well the latch is stuck in the middle and the motor just keeps spining and it won't move

what am i going to do ?

Replace the transmission case, er, the hatch motor/trans case.

Next time the hatch is open, remove the latch/motor assembly and exchange the trans case, and any broken gears. The trans cases are made of plastic and they do break due to age.

You can still get from the dealer.

I had the same thing happen on my 89 rs. Instead of paying $300 for a new replacement, I shot a self tapping screw through the latch and into the sheetmetal behind it. You just have to make sure that you get it at the right height - too low and it will not latch, too high and it will not seal correctly.

I took apart the housing for the and found that the gear has no teeth
so i am going to order one its going to cost me about $12 for a new gear but thats ok with me.....thx :thumbsup:
