Does anyone know whether the horns off the 1969 Nova, Impala, Chevelle, etc., are the same as the 1969 Camaro? What about the 67 and 68 models?
Thanks.

There are different numbers between each model and the mounts are different. The appearance is basically the same. I believe the 69 Camaro had 289 and 290 horns and the Chevelle had 279 and 280 horns. 67 were different numbers also, not sure about 68's. I had my originals rebuilt by Gary at the Horn Works for my 69 and they are loud now. Do a search in here on horns and you will find the correct numbers or call Gary at 608-361-0095. Here's his website http://classiccarhorns.com/index.html
He is a great guy and will take the time to talk to you. He had my horns back to me in two weeks.

Mine don't work either.... been waiting months for D&R to rcv suposedly "correct as original" new ones. $170 to rebuild the old ones seems kinda steep, too. Anyone know if the numbers above for 67 horns are ok for 68's too? mine bolt to the rad support, next to the rad, one above the other, not one on each side of the hood latch as I've seen on 69's.

FYI, 1970 Camaros also used the 289/290 and then going to single horn in 71' still used the 289 alone.
Cant recall where, but another thread advised that SOME inoperable horns could be made operable by spraying a rust inhibitor (such as WD-40 etc etc) inside horn opening , whereas it would free up corroded or frozen elec contacts???????
Not to circumvent Gary's fine work, but may be worth a try in SOME cases.........

I scrounged swap meets and look for new ones after 2 years I gave up and had mine rebuilt it was expensive but well worth it. They look and perform like new.
