I'm finishing up replacing both quarters on my 69. I used Goodmark quarters which fit perfect "except" for around the top of the deck lid where the stamping leaves something to be desired. My Goodmark trunk is now a coffee table because it's width is short by a 1/4 inch. I'm using my original trunk and just filling the spoiler holes. I have a good 3/16th gap all around the trunk except for the rounded corners. Should i cut the trunk to fit the quarters or cut the quarters to fit the trunk? and is 3/16th the correct gap all around the trunk? Thanks

I ended up grinding off the top corners to the tune of approx 1/8 to 3/16 and re-welding it together and cutting a piece of sheet metal to re-create the inside lip. Came out really nice, gaps look perfect or as close as one can get!

Weld a 1/8' wire around the trunk lid. Easier with a tig welder, if done right. Or could use the mig welder also. Roger

My vote is for building the trunk lid edge, (although either way will work).
My original 69 lid fit the repo 1/4's good, but was rotten beyond repair. The aftermarket lid was 1/4" narrow also. So I used 1/8" rod to build up trunk lid. Filled with All-Metal, then Epoxy prime, Rage, prime....etc. It came out great and not as much work as I originally thought.
WARNING.....Go EASY with the heat when tacking the rod to the lid. It will warp like crazy if you get too hot! Jb

actually I my old trunk is pretty good, besides not wanting the spoiler any more.My dilema is its tight in the corners and the quarter isnt as deeply stamped as the originals. I will be using your advice for my pass door bottom though.
thanks
