greetings all,

i just got a 67 camaro built for the strip. i'll have a bunch of questions for later on but the first one will help keep my hearing and my girlfriends sanity. it is running a 327 mildly built with open headers and a turbo 350. the interior is bare except for the drivers seat. when i put the car into gear there is a loud resonance around 900 rpms then it gets worse around 1500 rpms. above 1500 the resonance goes away. i dont remember if the resonance occurs when the car is in park. i think its only occuring when the car is in gear. anyone ever come across this? any suggestions and information will be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Without an interior to absorb the low frequencies from the exhaust, that's pretty typical. Dynamat should help or some sort of insulation blankets.

Hmm, open headers, no interior, I agree with Larry.

It's a strip car and you should be wearing ear protection and why would your GF care if there is only a drivers seat?

i had the same problem and the interior and dynomat didnt really help, the exhaust with turn downs made it go away
you might try running about 18" of pipe with turn downs to see if it helps

I was going to say turn downs also. No guarantee it will work.

You'll have to find what your car needs, some point at 5 o'clock and some point at 7 o'clock. Bounce the sound waves out off the pavement or off the pavement and into each other to cancel out sound some. Good luck.

thanks for the reply all. I think i'm going to put some flowmasters on to see if that gets rid of the resonating. if it doesnt, at least it will make it quiet enough to explore and see if something is loose and needs to be tightened down.

thanks
