Has anyone ever tried this? Does it hold up? Thanks.

I have not tried it, but I would be willing to bet it will chip. Powder coating is tough, but not as tough as many people think. If it is a show car and won't have the tires removed regularly (for maintenace, etc..) you may get away with it.

If you coat them then the socket wont fit and you'll scratch the coating every time you do get a socket on. Like above, if a show car and installed by hand, not driven then you might be ok.

Gorilla makes both black chrome and anodized lug nuts (blue/red). Check them out.

Black won't match and the anodized won't work either. I see they make some stainless capped lugs, but not in the style I need. Not sure how I am going to keep these things from rusting.

If rust is the major concern then get the ones with a lifetime warranty or get some McGards. We had a set of McGards on the '69 Chevelle for 10+ years and they still looked new.

I agree McGard makes some very nice lug nuts. I ran them on my 70 Camaro for years they still looked new when I sold it. They do not scratch, peel, chip, or rust.

What style lug nuts do you have? Maybe we can come up with comething. There are several styles made in stainless steel too.

Send them out to get clear zinc washed.

I have an old type aluminum wheel that the lug nut has to go entirely through the wheel. It has a shoulder on it. I will take one out and get a picture of it. These I have were purchased about a year ago and are already rusting with the vehicle sitting inside. They are gorilla brand.

I have the same style lug nuts. If you get me the shoulder dimensions I can point you in the right direction. What I will need to know is the shank diameter and the length you need on the shank. I am sure McGard makes one to fit your application, they are gauranteed for life as well.

Shank lugs. Used on the old ‘universal’ aftermarket rims with the slots instead of holes for the studs. So one part number would cover 5x4.5, 55v7.45, 5x5. Washers on the lug nuts too, right?

I have a pair of 14x7 American Racing Outlaw IIs in the garage like that. I’ll sell them cheap!

I'll agree on the quality of the McGuard stuff, at least based on past usage.

They are on my old 66 Chevy pickup. It is just a set of old aluminum slot mag wheels...6 lug unfortunately. I will get one off the old dog tomorrow night and post the dimensions of it. I really appreciate all the help guys...oh, and yeah, they do have a washer...

Oh, and one more unrelated question. I have 3 YH rally wheels that I think each have a small bend. I have seen some places advertised that can straighten bent wheels. How effective is that and how expensive?

Okay, finally got one of the lugnuts. It has 7/16" RH etched on it. The shank is 3/4" long...the part that goes through the wheel. Is that all you need? Thanks.

7/16 is the thread size. 3/4" long shank, but what is the diameter of the shank? If you can get the diameter, that will be all I need to find a match.

Thanks. My wheels are 6 lug, so I will have to have 6 packs of them. They are pretty pricey, but if they don't rust, it will be worth it.

They have a lifetime warranty against rust, chipping, peeling etc... They are the best I have ever seen or owned.
