I just picked up a nice 85 iroc-z and have run into a pain in the neck fuel problem. I am praying some one out there can shed a little light my way about this retched in-tank fuel pump. The previous owner made a jackass move by cutting a hole in the body of the trunk and continued to cut the wireing and fuel lines to fix a suposed issue with the fuel pump. I am in the situation of not knowing how to fix any of this. i got it to run but the pump will cut out intermitenly. is there an easy way to replace the pump asembly and wiring harness or am i looking at a shop fee to do this?

The pump is easy enough to change, you just gotta drop the tank down out of the car.

with that hole in the trunk, it might just come out the top.

how hard is it going to be to redo all the wiring and fuel lines with out droping the tank? i looks like it will all pop out the top but i am not to good at putting things back together.

Some of these things have replaceable harnesses that usually burn when pump is about to crater, If you can afford a pump and all the work then few dollars more you could replace the short harness. Need to check that out thru that big hole. The hole can be tinned in with screws and sealer.

cant say how hard it will be depends on your skill, tools and ability to get at the problem with your hands.since there is already a hole in the body you can always cut 3 sides more and bend it open fix the problem right dont scrimp on parts you dont want to make this a habit, then bend the metal back and put sealer around it. i know this isnt the best way to do it but it is the easiest. thanks Kenny

Edelbrock sells a full exhaust minus cat convertor. Look at Summit Racing. Other brands as well in Summit Racing.
All convertors sold by Summit, and maybe other stores, Jegs, etc., are for off-road use only, so they won't pass Federal mandate of lasting 100K miles, but, they do work and are cheap enough.
Welcome to the Club.

I thank you for the formal welcome! I have looked into jegs and summit and found summit to have the best bets I was looking at the Borla Stainless Steel Cat-Back Systems. I think it would look an dsound good with the proper flow but I am new to tricked out camaros. My father raced a 69-72 Blend with a 350 on mud and thats about all I know.
