I have a 79 camaro with a TH350 trans and the speedometer cable dont thread all the way onto the nose that holds the spedo gear, is there a seal that goes between the cable and the nose, or is it just a bad nose, since it'll only thread half way? any help would be appreciated.

It should go on until the spedo cable is held tight. If it doesn't there is something wrong.

FYI, GM has replacement spedo gear holders, the part that inserts into the trans, they are much much better than the pot metal stock holders and will seal better to the trans. There are two lengths of spedo output gears, the little seal inside must be pressed in farther to use the short stem type spedo gears.
