All good ones so far guys, but here are a few more from my youth.....

Road Warrior ... Mel is da Man! The toughest car to ever come from "don unda". This movie made me appreciate the flat black stealt look!

Better off Dead .... a high school kid how can't really work on cars meets a female french exchange student who restores his '68 Camaro for him to race his enemies.

Corvette Summer ... a high school kid with a dream who saves a practically new at the time vette from the crusher takes it back to school and builds a 70's show style Vette and meets a hooker!

Cannon Ball Run .... Early Power Tour, but much more fun!

Smokey & the Bandit .... What can't you say about this movie??

Blind Date .... Bruce Willis & Kim Bassinger TRASH a cool 300ZX over the coarse of one evening.

A little known movie from just a few years ago starring Matthew McConaughey called Dazed and Confused which was about the high school class of 1976. Even though the movie did not center around cars, the movies' producer must have been a car nut because they had some really cool examples of the various cars from the 60's and early 70's in this movie.

Matthew McConaughey's character drove a 1970 Chevelle SS!

Interesting movie about several owners of a really nice yellow rolls royce. The movie starred Ingrid Bergman. Rex Harrison, Jeanne Moreau, Edmund Purdom, and Shirley Maclaine. It was made in 1965, saw it when I was kid at a theater my parents ran.

Gone in sixty seconds both of them. I think I will be getting flamed on this one. The first The fast and the furious. Why you ask? My cousin was in it and I thought he did a great job,he played the mechanic that gets killed in the end. His name is Chad lindberg. He was also in The Rookie.

I also liked the new movie that's out on DVD The Transporter. They use a BMW but the chases and action are great. Not a good movie if you like your movies to "feel real". I just enjoy the entainment myself and sit back and enjoy.

"My Science Project" has a really nice '70 GTO in it. "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" has a scene where Spiccoli crashed a late '70's Z28. "Diamonds Are Forever" and "Goldfinger" both have some really good car chases in them. Unfortunately they both involve Mustangs. "Ronin" has some really good car chases in it with some cool European cars that you don't see often on this side of the pond. But, to me, American Graffiti and Hollywood Knights are the best. John Millner rules!

I gotta go with American Graffiti as one of the all time best for the cars and the cruzin' scenes. I watched it again several times on DVD a week or so ago and noticed for the first time that the doors on the '58 are shaved! I see something new every time.
The movie 'Heart Like a Wheel' had some classic vintage Drag Racing scenes in it too.

Hey MARTINSR - did you ever make any of the 'Graffiti Cruise" yet?
BTW - I picked up a little something for your American Graffiti Collection in a Singapore Video shop last week - drop me your address via email and I'll ship it to you.

8. Vanishing Point
9. Men In Black, both I & II
10. The Fifth Element

I know Catch Me if you can very well. Cheesy acting, but gotta love the 57 210 at the end. I also vote for Two Lane Blacktop and American Graffitti as the top 2. Loved the GTO in Dazed and Confused. Cannonball Run, Gumball Ralley, Smokey and the Bandit goes without saying. How about Hooper or Stroker Ace. Maybe even the Blues Brothers, awesome hackey chase sceen. Hot Rods to Hell is another good one, you just have to remember that it was made in 1957. There was a movie played on Showtime that had alot of racing in it ,it was called Redline. I can't find this one on DVD anywhere though. How about Born To Run with Richard Greico. The original Vanishing point was much better than the remake, I hate it when they try to make good movies politically correct. What was the movie ( I think i starred Robert Reed) that was about an old race car driver that burried his car under his garage when cars were outlawed, got fed up, and dug it out for a bonzaii run from the Man?

I agree with the obvious choices..
American Graffiti ... Harrison Ford driving the 55 looking for Milner" it looks like a cross between piss yellow and puke green"

Hollywood Nights .. after Danza loses to the "Chinese bandits" in the cobra the guys say , " hey , you got second place"

Dazed and Confused ... awesome

Two Lane Blacktop .. I like the movie for Warren Oats..I think he is a scream...The actors were tragic though...the girl was Art Garfunkel's girfriend...she committed suicide...Wilson had a tragic life and died...James Taylor struggled with all kinds of addictions and is probably lucky to be alive .

A real good car movie is Heart Like a Wheel..it is the Shirley Muldowney story. If you like drag racing it is a must.

Still remember seeing it the 1st time it was on TV (50's or early 60'S?)

My dad was watching it and it was late, past my bed time. I snuck out to watch it and then I got caught but he let me watch as much as I could before I fell asleep

here it is:

"Independence Day

a k a Follow Your Dreams
1983-USA-Romantic Drama

PLOT DESCRIPTION
In this run-of-the-mill romantic drama, the title Independence Day refers to the usual Fourth of July fireworks festival in the U.S. but also to the dilemma of Mary Ann Taylor (Kathleen Quinlan) who lives in a small town but has a big ambition to go to the city and study photography for a profession -- should she go, or should she stay in her hometown with the man she loves? Focus on Mary Ann's dilemma slips to other characters -- her boyfriend's suicidal sister (Dianne Wiest) who is abused by her husband, the abusive husband's equally nasty father, and Mary Ann's boyfriend himself who is preparing his Camaro for the annual Fourth of July race. With the story moving from here to there, hampered by some extraordinary leaps of imagination, the narrative is thinned considerably by the time the Fourth is at hand. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide"

Rating: R (Violence/Brief Nudity/Adult Situations/Not For Children/Adult Language)
Running Time: 110 Minutes

Starring: Kathleen Quinlan, David Keith, Frances Sternhagen, Cliff De Young, Dianne Wiest

It is a cheezy Stallone flick with not much of a plot. Suddenly for no apparent reason, criminals are relentlessly after the woman in the movie and sly is there to protect her. No real reason why they are after her but they are.
Anyway, Stallone drives a really cool 50 Mercury. Its a great chase seen too.

The movie is worth watching for the chase seen alone.

Narrow the trivia down to movie with the best camaro or narrow it down even further to the best 1st generation camaro...

My vote is for a movie that starred Woddy Harrelson, Selma Hyak and Pierce Brosnan (spelling does not count) about a jewelry heist aboard a yacht. Pierce Brosnan drove a nice 1969 blue tricked out unit. I forgot the title.

Warren Oates rips me up.

"After I got shot down over Korea, I got a job testin' jets, and it was gettin' that I wasn't getting enough action on the ground. That's around the time the 455 came out with....

I bought a house for my mother, I am going down to Florida now to fix it up.

I am a movie producer scouting locations for a movie about fast cars.

I won it shooting craps.

I'm racin' a 55' Chevy across country. Detroit set it up. If i win....it could mean millions for the organization.

I won it, flat out. I was racing in a stock 55 chevy for pinks. I won by three hours, of course, the guys driving the GTO couldn't drive worth a damn."

Those are all the lies I remember off the top of my head. If anyone can remember another one, throw it out there!!!

A guy uses his souped up 72 El Dorado as a weapon and Caviezel pursues him across the country in a Barracuda.

Bullitt for sure. The Wraith. American Graffitti. My mom and I watched American Graffitti together once and I heard about all the cars that use to criuse Lake Street when she was young. Cool movies. I also like Dazed and Confused. Nice Chevelle SS.

Anyone remember a movie about a kid that used to race a car through the city streets on a set course and had a box to change the traffic lights to green (like fire companies would have used) and then like his high school teacher had his old race car buried underneath the football filed in a old facility . I think it was like a 57 Chevy or something? anyone??? they raced against other cars.. I think it was a movie or a after school special or something

I'm a third vote for "After Sunset" with Pierce Brosnan, a great '69 convertible, and one of the most beautiful woman in the world parading around in a bikini.....It's a must see :beers:
