I am about to order tires for a 68 camaro. The front wheels are 17x7 with 4" b/s. Which tire will work without rubbing. 225/45/17, 235/45/17 or 215/45/17. I am running 255/45/17 on a 17x8 in the rear.
Thanks for your help.

I'd say the 225 would be the safest bet. I had F60-15s which have a 235 section width and they rubbed (only just) with a stock offset rallye wheel.

i have 225s on a 16"x7" rim and they are nowhere near rubbing
but i have hotchkis lowering springs all the way around
3 3/4" backspacing
well i was just going to sugest 235 or ever 245 and then I went to tirerack.com
they list a 235/45R17 for 7.5"-9" wide rims
so on a 7" wide rim they might look 'bubbley'
so your best bet again in a 225

I will, but it will be awhile. My car is on the rotisserie and just last week got the first coat of etching primer.
Hopefully, I will be testing the tires and wheels out around summer time. :-)

4" BS is going to rub badly, I had 15 x 8 ralley's 225/60's in FRT every turn & every bump. frame fenders you name it it rubbed.

He ordered 7" rims not 8", so he should be ok with 4" BS on the front.
