hey guys I was wondering if some one could give me an anwser on about how much hp im making ,and any advise on add ons its a 383 stroker

My painter/partner was running a 383 stroker (350 block, stoker crank) in his 73Z.

Similar setup, but your's looks to be more mild than his. It was running a comp XE274 (~.490 lift, 230/236 duration @ .050, LS 110). Edelbrock Air Gap, 750 Demon, ported Dart heads, headers. Scat "cast steel forged" crank, whatever thats supposed to mean (and had to be drilled like crazy in order for it to balance). Im guessing cast, but havent gotten around to checking. Eagle h-beam rods.

Chassis dyno'd at 305 hp, and I think around 330 tq. Was running very rich, so I think theres was more left in it. With leaner jets (no dyno), it ran 13.1 in the 1/4.

Im not saying 383 strokers or Scat cranks are bad, but we've obviously had our issues.

wow i hope that dosnt happen to me I just now hit the 250mile mark on this new motor. for some reason to me it feels like i got more then 300 horses but I could be wrong.

I would guess around 375. THe pic has quite a bit of destruction. Scary that it was at only 12-1500RPM. Imagine at 5500. WOW.

The 305 hp figure we got was at the rear wheels. Probably couldve tuned another 20hp out of it. And with a power-sapping 700R behind it, we figured it was probably in the low 400hp range at the crank.

I think the 375-400 range suggested above would be where youre at.

I also forgot its bored .060 over and i planned on shelling out the 300$ for a roller cam. if i can ever get my starter problem fixed. if you can check out my other post (starter or flywheel problem) I really need help in that department.

Making it into a roller motor will most likely add a good amount of hp. We're replacing the broken 383 engine with a 366 roller motor, actually.

Havent really looked at prices in a while, but I'm pretty sure its more than $300 to go roller. Its not just a cam swap. You also have to change the lifters and rocker arms. Possibly valve springs also, depending on the cam and the added amount of lift you usually get from rollers.

o yeah I know it's more then 300$ it usually run's about 600-700$ but a friend of mine has a full roller set frome comp cams that he was going to put in his 355 before blew the motor now he's going big block and he said he would sell me the set for 300$ cash. would the fact that my motor is board 60 over add any to that 375-400 estimate?

I run a similar setup to what Daves friend is (was) running with my 383. Mine dynod at 415hp/450tq, at the crank. I see you are running a 650 cfm carb, think these motors run stronger with a 750. I have a 750 Holley DP on mine.
