That oil pressure is perfeact, The question is why would you need more at idle?????????????????????????????????????

Rule of thumb, 10 psi for every 1000 rpm

Oil pressure should be at least 15 -20 PSI at idle, about 30 PSI at 1000 RPM and about 50 PSI at 2500 - 3000 RPM for a standard volumn oil pump. Your pressure is okay.

Keep in mind, differant types of oil can change your pressure also. Thicker oil adds pressure.

The Nextel cup engines turn almost 10,000 RPM and run only 40 to 45 pouds of oil pressure what rule of thumb are they using.

Since Mobil 1 has change there formular to meet the governments recomendations by lowering the zinc and phosphate its not recomende to be used in perfromance applications as these are the major friction reducers in oils.

Any of the 20/50 oils on the market today don't say RACING OIL on the bottles like they use to is because they have lowered the zinc and phospahte in the oil and its not a peformace oil any more.

The only oil today that is made in the U.S. and is considered to be used in racing engines is the old green Kendall which is marketed as Brad-Penn oil which is still made at the old Kendall refinery check out there website http://www.amref.com/

We use the Kendall to break our cams in on the dyno and from there on the circle track engines we have the go to the 20/50 Amsoil which is a RACING OIL with zero problems and the High performance steet engines we build we have them stay with the Brad-Penn and no issues.

We do some busssiness with a shop that did a lot of dyno testing for Mobil 1 and since the formular change they won't use it any more as they were having cam shaft and lifter failuars on flat tappet cams at the tracks, But when they were on the dyno and the cams were broke in and after doing all the dyno runs no problems with the Brad-Penn but the customers would go to the track with Mobil 1 and not even make the practice with out a failuar.

If any body wants the phone number of the shop with all the info. PM me as this shop owner has far more info on this matter then I have posted.

The rule that says they can afford to rebuild their motors every 500 miles or so.:)
