Ok... my passenger fender was rusted from the extension up about 4 in along the wheel well(Piece about 1" wide along well is gone, broke away while removing extension!!.).
Aside from that, the fender is good...First question:

Can it be fixed?

If not, where the best place to buy a repro?

it CAN be fixed , I keep a stack of used fenders to cut sections out of , if the fender you have is good all but where you say I would definatley fix it ,,

well , how about finding a used fender on ebay for parts ? I know this is a lot of trouble but when you get your hands on a nice repro fender that would better fit a ford pinto than your camaro you will see why I say fix the one you have , also the section you need can be made out of sheetmetal , you would have to be a little skilled to do that though , let me look and see today how mant I have , I'll let you know if I have a good section like that , good luck

What ever you do, don't waste money on the lower replacement section repop. I bought one and it was way off. Be better off trying to hand fab than to deal with fixing the bad stamp of the repop.

they don't make the piece he needs , only the lower rear part

Left or right? lloking for the top (near windshield) piece for a patch on mine.

I agree with above,..patch panel the original. Repo fenders, even the best, Good Mark's, leave a lot to be desired,..at least this is the case for 69's. I can walk up to any 69, and tell right away if the fenders are original or repos. The most obvious clue, is, it comes up 1/4 to 1/2 inch short of the windshield.

I think you made the right decision. I had the same problem and rebuilt both of mine plus the fender wells. It took TONs of time. The pieces of the fender lip were escpecially tough. Like a jigsaw puzzle, I created the different pieces of the fender and then welded them together. In the end, I still had to use filler to get the many different transitions smooth. I'm not sorry I spent so much time on it but if I had the same problem with another car, I'd get the Goodmarks and make them fit. I believe tweaking wouldn't be as time consuming as rebuilding.

Seems much better to just go with the repro. If your concerned about the lip not coming up close enough to the windshield like Straight says, then just build it up by welding it and shaping it (heard about doing that for the repro door skins that are a little too short)... it will be a lot less hassles and will last much longer then some jig-saw puzzle welded up piece of crap.

I'm not saying that you'll end up with crap or something that won't last. My point was that such an undertaking is a time drain. I believe the repairs I made will last as long as the rest of the car because I took the time to do it right.

I myself dont have the skills to rework what I have.

Does anyone have any recommendation on where/where not to buy a decent repro?

Stay away from Goodmark junk. Lesson learned here. A good body man can reweld yours.

Hey, the fender I just destroyed on my car had that issue. Up at the A-pillar moulding there is a 1/4 gap like the fender doesn't come up high enough.

I guess if that's the case I won't make it any worse by replacing it with another!

Well at least you know you didn't destroy an original....
