anyone having problems with the repop doors.i bought 2 of them & one on driverside fits fair, but passenger side is horriable.bottom of door gap is at least 5/8 of a inch gap between rocker & door bottom.i have both lined up at the top of rear quarter & the front fender, but at rear of door theres a 5/8 gap no way to lower door or the line on door & quarter wont line up.doors look great but i think they are a little short width ways.these are supposed to be the best they sell according to the parts supplier i got these from.he says im the only one thats complained.ive put full quarters frame rails tailpan full trunk pan & inner & outer wheelhousings & 2 floor halfs in.i cut out 1 part at a time & replaced parts one at a time.do you think i might have gotten car out of wack while i had it up on my rotterese.all other panels seems to fit ok hate to weld a 1/4 inch to bottom of new doors thats why i bought new onesthe other partswasnt great but they wasnt as far off as these doors are .man im ticked at over a grand for 2 doors with shipping i think they should fit better.oh well i want to thank everone thats helped me get this thing almost back togather.this is a great information site.thanks a million

The only way to tell if it is your work or the doors is to hang an original to see how it fits. Good Luck

I had the same problem.I had to add 3/16" to the bottom of each door to get a nice gap.

My doors (both repops) have a gap that is larger than I'd like as well at the bottom edge (I'd say at least 1/2 on the one side). By contrast, my 69 Z with unmolested GM doors have a 3/8" gap, so not dramatically tighter than you describe, only 1/8" or so. I have not taken the time to measure, but the door must be slightly shorter than the GM version. The bottom line is that whether its doors, quarters, trunk lids, or front fenders, all sheetmetal (repop AND NOS)is going to take adjustment and or tweaking. I can remember paying the long money for some NOS front fenders for my 55' Chevy, and was really bummed that I needed to spend an entire weekend getting them to fit really well. 69 Project has the right idea. You can either add 1/4" round rod to the door edge, grind flush and fill, weld a piece of thin bar stock into the rocker area, or both. This will close the gap, and it will look great.

GOD do I hate it when the guy says "Gee, you are the only one to ever complain". What is he saying that I am a picky SOB? I don't get that, I know I have heard that when returning some pretty crappy junk. Does it mean that all the other parts were better and I just got a lemon? Or does it mean that every other person that bought it is a complete moron?

Sorry, I just had to vent.

yep i know what you mean by me being only one to complain. its sort of like no need to complain to me i only sell this junk i dont make it. the guy i got them from said he would look at them if i sent them back & only if they didnt have any primer on them. i have already got primer on them i wanted to primer them before i put them on so i wouldnt have to take them back off so i guess you could say they are mine now.its not that i cant fix them i just hate to spend money on new parts & then have to weld on them, because the set i gave away only needed a set of skins on them. i listened to several of my buddies who had reskined their doors tell me how hard it was to reskin them so i didnt do mine.i dont think they could have been any harder than getting that frigging whole trunk pan in wihout taking3/4 of the rear of car apart.could any of you thats welded up bottom of new doors tell me what you used to get the 1/4 inch on bottom of doors.i was thinking about using 1/4 inch key stock, what do you all think about the key stock ideal.

Anthony, I've always used round rod. I weld it to the edge, then grind it flat as needed to match the panel. The round rod provides a nice curve on the sides/bottom of the panel. Home Depot or Lowes carries it in different widths.

DON'T EVER, EVER throw away, give away, distroy parts that come off your car until the car is DONE.

25 years ago I had a friend who threw away a complete 67 RS front clip planning on getting another! No kidding, he threw away the whole friggin clip, headlamps and all! I don't have to tell you how difficult that was to replace.

Honestly, at work, even parts that a quarter that are cut off the car are saved (at least I do, not everyone does) in the junk parts cart until the car is done. You NEVER KNOW what kind of stupid info you can get off that part, where seam sealer was, where a weld was that you forgot to do, etc. And you certainly don't toss it until the replacement is in your hand!

Skinning is not easy, but it is better to have on part of the door repro than to have the whole thing.
