It's a 1984 Firebird Trans Am Vert check out the auction and let me know what you think. Is this thing as rare as he thinks? It's pretty close to me and i thinking it might make a good kids car? E-pay auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4584385512&sspagename=ADME%3AL%3ARTQ%3AUS%3A1)

It might be rare. The vert came back as an RPO on the Camaro in 1987, I think 89 was the first year for it as an RPO for the birds.

So, it's a conversion, but so were the "factory" RPO cars. American Sunroof Comany (now American Sports Cars or something like that) did the RPO conversions on T-top cars, because of the added strength. I don't know of anything in the VIN that tells you it was a T-top car, nor do I know on a third gen where the reinforcements are.

I have seen a few of this style conversion, and I remember the fiberglass being fairly low quality and the top being balky, and the little hatch in the deck is strange. You can't get much in the way of parts for the "factory" cars, so I bet it's a real problem for these.

If you go and inspect it, I'd look for how it's reinforced and for stress cracks along the door jamb rocker area (that's where the 1st gens crack).

While you're there, could you swing by the Arsenal and smack my work crews around? Seems they don't like smoking bricks...

Hey Eric thanks for the info. Did you work for The Washington Group or Raytheon? I work for Raytheon. Do you ever get out this way to smack your crew around? If so let me know and i will have some cold brews and steak ready for ya. I live about an hour south west of Pine Bluff. I did a little checking and the price is steep for it and your parts will be a bitch. Also found a picture with the top up. It looks like crap. No wonder it's rare no one would have bought something that ugly with the top up!! After showing it to the kid he was...................ahhh no thanks!

I work for one of those little 8A environmental contractors that the big guys complain about. We're cleaning up that PBA WP warehouse that burned in June, but I hope to not have to go down there. I did some work at Chaffee right after it closed, 1995 or so, and I have some work at Lone Star too. I really like Arkansas.

I was going mention how ugly I think those early 2 seaters are, but... That thing on the tonneau between the seats looks like a TP dispenser.
