View Full Version : Deer in driveway... wish it was season
click Oct 25th, 05, 12:14 PM Had 2 visitors to my home office this afternoon at 1230pm. A nice set of twin buck whitetail deer. One had small forks and the other taller spike antlers but they browsed around for over half an hour while I snapped pics. Wish it was gun season, Id be done hunting already.
A bunch of pics.... Pics of Deer (http://www.brainerd.net/~knudsen/69RS/Critters/)

nikkisdad Oct 25th, 05, 12:47 PM Dont shoot Bambie!!!
Vintage 68 Oct 25th, 05, 12:51 PM Make sure there is a shell in the chamber Jim... :p
We had one around that was attacking dogs and people while they were walking their dogs...
Little 4~6 prong'r that probably had a bad run in with a dog as a 'Bambi'...
They sent a "Federal" game-guy to track it down and bag it - Hmmmm, let's see - people call you up and tell you exactly where you can go and bag some 'menacing' deer for a living - yup, I want his job...
Well I better get back to being vigilant for "bad" deer ;)

Black69 Oct 25th, 05, 06:36 PM Looks to me like they are doing surveillance around your property. Be carefull the next time you go outside, they're watching. ;)

Looks like one is peeing on your flowers (weeds) and the other has a long pipe in it's foot...You need to protect your property soooo......SHOOT!
MrDanB Oct 25th, 05, 08:04 PM Way cool Jim! Mostly I get the infamous do-do opossum's in my area, the infamous large fanged black n hairey wolf spider, or maybe a garden snake or frog, but wild deer? Too cool
Dano :beers:
Joe Harrison Oct 25th, 05, 08:08 PM We have to many of those darn things around here. They come in the back yard and the dang dog barks at them in the middle of the night. Can hardly wait to shoot em!!

Jim,
I developed a severe eye strain headache trying to see the horns on those two bucks.
You need to come out west where we grow them big!

click Oct 25th, 05, 08:19 PM Nice racks on those critters :)
nikkisdad Oct 25th, 05, 09:32 PM Jim I agree, with dayton68Z28, those bambies hardly qualify for a petting zoo. Come on out to Utah, and get into the killing frenzy now taking place here. I see some seriously large bucks, coming off the mountains now.
jr68 Oct 25th, 05, 10:58 PM I've seen bucks in my yard too .
some of them nice ones but they are no where to be found come gun season and I'm not a bow hunter so I am limited to the nine day hunt here when all I see is does.
I'll never understand , with all the forage they have in the woods , why they have to come into our yards and eat whatever it is we planted like shrubs or hostas . Are they bored with conventional food ?
expat_dude Oct 26th, 05, 03:54 AM I get home the day before the season opens in Mississippi!! :D
drdave69 Oct 26th, 05, 06:15 AM I have deer LIVING in my back yard. On many occasions, I have been awakened by my motion sensor lights at night to actually witness the birth of a few fawns. We currently have a doe and her twins sleeping and eating in my yard at night. The smaller two actually sleep at the edge of my lawn ON THE GRASS. Mind you, this is in a neighborhood of 1 acre lots and not way out in the boonies.
I don't hunt so they are safe here but the wife does get mad about all of her flowers/vegetables getting eaten.
djunod Oct 26th, 05, 06:34 AM We used to get them all the time, about 5 times a week, in our yard... we see them less frequently now (2 - 3 times a month) as there is more & more development going on in the surrounding area. There still has been several times this year though that my wife has been able to sit on the back deck, drinking her coffee and be able to watch as 4 - 6 of them move slowly across our back yard (until the dogs hear them...). They do eat some of her flowers... she used to shred up irish spring and sprinkle it around the flowers, until we got a new dog that would eat the soap.
69ratchvlle Oct 26th, 05, 08:13 AM We have lots of them here in central Il. In fact on the way to work this morning I saw a guy bag one. To bad he had to use hi 05 Z71 X-cab.
One county cop was already there and another was speeding through a school zone to get there. No need for that, no injuries and his partner was on scene.
Dayton68Z28 Oct 26th, 05, 11:22 AM Nice racks on those critters :)
