Is the tapered hole that the tie rod fastens to supposed to be exactly vertical or does it tilt slightly?
I ask because on my car a previous owner went off-road and hooked the steering linkage up on an obstacle. The tie rod on one side was bent. Both steering arms have this tapered hole slanted towards the centerlink.

I THINK they are both angled slightly BUT to be sure, why don't you take it and get it aligned after the mishap to be sure??
I bet it needs it regardless!!

Thanks for your reply pdq. I'm building up from a bare subframe and I wanted to be sure these parts were not damaged. Both sides slope the same amount and only one side had the tie rod assembly bent up. The previous owner must have hooked up on something while going backwards! Toe out was about an inch when I got the car.
Anyway, it will be aligned once things are together. Thanks again.

If that thingy that the tie rod fastens to is bent,, you got problems,,, I believe that is bolted to the spindle? Thats pretty tough stuff but the front end guy will tell you for sure.
