: Suspension ... "settling" ??

Question?
While my car was COMPLETELY ripped apart, I had "all" bushings and mounts replaced from the old rubber ones to the new poly ones. I was told that over time the front suspension would "settle". With 2 inch drop spindles and 245/50-16's up front, the tires tucked up inside the wheel wells by about 3/4 of an inch. Looking directly at the side of the tires you could not see the tops of the treads. Was getting ready to change the oil and jacked up the front end of the car to get underneath. When I was done I put the car back down ........... but the front end stayed up some ?? Been sitting back on the ground for about 3 weeks now and the front end it now at LEAST an inch taller than is was before ?? Looking directly at the side of the tires you can now see the tops of the tires, plus maybe an extra 1/4 inch ? Can anybody tell me what happened ??? Only 500 miles on this car.

maybe a stupid question, but since you didnt mention.

have you driven the car yet? or at least "bounced" the front end to get it back down? the front end sitting high after having it jacked up isnt uncommon, but will usually find itself once it moves around some.

ya one my bird, i have to lift the front up to get the jack in
but when letting it down it comes out easy because the front end is still held up by the tire (they need to slide outwards to let the car down to normal ride height

Does anybody know WHY the car stays up like that ?

Because something is binding. Get some heavy bounce to it to see if it settles.

the tires are binding on the floor
when the suspension is at full droop, the tires move in toward the center of the car
when you put the weight back on the tires then need to move outwards to return to their natural position and for the height to return to normal

this is not a problem at all almost every car, not just camaros, does this
stop worrying about it

...well unless you have driven the car, like ramairdave said
