View Full Version : Is this motor mount any good?

I am rebuilding the 454 in my '68 and putting new mounts on at the same time.

I really want the interlocking style. My correct big-block frame mount pads are 2 + 5/8" wide and these mounts (see pics) fit great, but they look like junk. I'd rather get something better, so I'd be grateful if someone knows where to get top-quality mounts, or original GM. I think these are '69 big-block mounts??

Also, the clearance at the interlock point is only .030". Does this seem OK?

Thanks

GM still sells the engine mounts,..actually, I believe the SB and BB mounts are the same,..only the frame mounts were different.

No way I'd use the stuff from India, China, or Korea,..for this job, you better go GM.

I'll check tonight,..see if I can get you a part number which will save you 45 minutes at your Chevy dealer.

I see interlock tabs on mount in picture. There are two differant mounts for sbc,, what I call the tall and a short ,, I see a short in the picture. I think the tall is a 2 1/4" ? If you can find the Anchor or Doan brand , that will work. GM would be better. Then you could go to the poly but they are rough and dont allow much vibration dampening.

Zdld17,..I agree,..Anchor used to be the go-to for mounts but now they're made in India and if you've seen one lately next to an original, you'd take it back.

Don't know about Doan.

I have tried poly mounts. They did not work for me. One of them actually loosened up, that is, the rubber seperated from the metal.

I would be very grateful if anyone could point me to a good quality mount, with same measurements as shown in pics.

Gracias!!
