my 2000 camaro v6 "change oil" light keeps coming on
i just did my oil about 700 miles ago and it was brand new with a new filter.
could this be caused by not resetting the odometer or the oil change odometer??
i don't think my oil is that bad already

Oil is not bad already ... Check that oil level is correct to insure no leak and that you are low ... then, just reset the light... Whenever a manual reset is required, changing the oil does not automatically reset the system... The steps to reset the system should be in the owners manual.

On my 2002 Z I have to press and hold the trip odometer button for 12 seconds until the oil light flashes and goes out. I suspect yours is the same. Did you do that?
The ECU turns on the oil light based on crankshaft revolutions and temperature of the oil. It usually trips on mine about every 5000 to 6000 miles.

I used to have a 2000 ss camaro...you should be able to pump your gas pedal three times within 5 seconds with the key in the "acc" posistion and it will reset. The change oil light does not monitor oil leval or condition.
