Hoping to get some ideas...

I have a 67 RS Convertible auto with powerglide trans, all electrical works perfect except for both reverse back up lights. New bulbs have not solved...I notice the car also does not start in Neutral-believe it should, correct?

Someone told me that the back up lights do work off the Neutral safety switch, so bad switch could cause problem? Car not starting in neutral equals bad switch?

Any help is appreciated.

Column shift, floor shift??? Could be that the switch needs to be adjusted. First with the car off but key on, move the shifter slowly from "P" to "N" See if the reverse lamps come on momentarily. If they come on in between gears the switch, or trans linkage is out of adjustment. Same thing with starting in "N"

Did it ever work?

I would start with the dash harness and follow it down thru the firewall and see if it checks out okay

take off the 2 peices that wrap around the shifter to access the switch. The neutral safety switch has 2 large purple wires, the backup light switch has 2 wires one of which is pink. Stick your ohmeter leads in both wires on the switches, one at a time, with the car off, to test em. should read zero ohms when the switch closes. you can loosen and move the switches on the chifter to get the correct adjustment. as was mentioned, make sure your shifter is adjusted right forst.
