I bought a factory radio for my 69 on e-bay and it calls for a 10 ohm speaker which arent really popular today so i was wondering is there a modern speaker that will work with my original radio?

Nope. The only way to run them is to have an original speaker reconed, unless you find NOS one on ebay (they do come up occasionally :))

I wonder if there might be a way around this. If it's an AM radio, then only the single dash speaker would be used, right? I have seen speaker systems that use two 4 ohm speakers in the space of the single speaker that can be used with stereo radios. If you were to wire these two speakers in series, you would get a total of eight ohms for the one channel AM radio. That might be close enough not to overload the factory 10 ohm radio.

What does everyone think about this?

You can always go higher in ohmage, just don't go too far lower. I don't think the radio would know or care if you used an 8 ohm speaker, but I wouldn't put 2 speakers on that circuit. Some 16 Ohm speakers are available in that size. If you need help, pm me :waving:

or i seen a guy that used 6 ohm resistors on the speaker wires to give 10 ohms to the head unit.

he was using 4 ohm speakers i think.
