Ok, I got a silly question that needs to be answered. I currently have the autometer gauge pod w/ gauges. I am going to change them out and install the factory gauge set in the console. Here goes the silly question. My autometer temp gauge shows the temp reading, the original temp gauge doesn't. What temp does the factory gauge read as normal. There is a red line on the temp guage, approx what temp is that. I know this is a weird question but I need to know.

ENP, not a silly question because I have often wondered the same thing.
For what its worth, my sbc 350 seems to run between the 2nd and 3rd line from the "C". What temp that actually is, I don't know?

Most stock gauges seem to run 1 line above 1/4 scale at 180 degrees. Wild guess on the full range of the gauge would be 160 to 250 degrees.
GM didn't make the gauges to show you real temperature, only to indicate a trend, otherwise the gauges would have numbers on them.

thanks for the input. I am having second thoughts about buying the factory repro. I might just stick with my autometer pod.

Anyone with the two gauges at hand, can connect them both, run the car, and calibrate/compare readings for personal reference. That's what I'd do, if I really want to go back to original gauges.
