My uncle recently purchased a powermaster staggered mount mini starter for his 65 Nova, with a 350 and points type ignition. He bolted it up and went to turn the key and nothing. Powermaster said he may have to have the r diode kit, which they make for their starters. So, he ordered that, put it on, and the starter will still do nothing. Have any of you other guys had problems like this? He has an optima battery that has plenty of juice, so cranking amps aren't the problem.

Have you tried to bench test it? If not I would try that next. I have one for my 400sb but I have only benched it. And it seamed to work fine.

He could just run a jumper wire with a button strait off the battery to the starter and see. Wouldnt have to pull starter that way. I have never used one of those brands but I was interested in the replies they seem to be inexpensive and should work good on street hipo motors if the quality is there.

Got it tested, the starter was faulty right out of the box. Hopefully the next one will work.
