Hi what do u guys think i should be running in the way of initial timing figures at idle on this engine
Specs are zz454 9.6 comp ,230/236 hyd roller alloy heads airgap proform 750dp 3000 stall msd pro billet dissy digi6 box,BP 98 octane pump gas some guys say anything from 6deg-18eg at idle what you recon thanks

My friend has the 454ho which is similar to the ZZ454 (less alum heads). Any less than 16* it backfires. He runs it at 18* initial, 38* total. Runs in the 12's...not bad for no compression and tiny cam in 3800lb Chevelle.

It will probably like as much as you can give it. If it will crank over, and it doesn't ping at light throttle, it's not too much. Remeber to limit the advance in the MSD to keep your total under control, it should have come with a mess of limiter bushings.
