Has anyone bought these from Savitske, and were you happy with the service?

In the "standard" form are they taller then stock? I'm looking for the tallest possible combination. Since they offer a .5" taller stud. I'm interested in that if thats .5" taller then stock, or .5" taller then their standard stud which is taller to begin with.
Is that as tall as they go, or do they offer even taller?

Brian,

I asked one of the Parts People at one of our O'Reilly's here in town to let me look at a bunch of front balljoints and there is a stock one just like the Howe!

I THINK it is for a Second Gen. car but check. OR maybe for our cars after our springs sag too much??

AND it is a lot cheaper priced too!

PS., I think I looked at 7 or 8 before I found it??

I bought a pair, they look great and are much stronger.
I haven't verified the height, I'll check them. I haven't used them yet.
There is a "taller" upper balljoint circle track guys use, but they are late 60's pickup truck balljoints that have the same taper, - 7 deg as a first gen, but they are thicker so the spindle must be reamed out. They also have a similar bolt pattern, BUT the pattern is larger than a first gen and the pocket in the A arm must be cut out and enlarged to fit this BJ. My 69 Vintage racer came with this mod, but uses SCP spindles.

The price doesnt concern me too much. In comparison to whats spent in the engine, "expensive" ball joints, shocks, ect arent too bad.

I know Afco sells a less expensive "roll center change" ball joint for a 2nd gen, but i'm not certain of the exact differences. If the A-arms can be modified to work with the 2nd gen ball joints it something for me to consider.

I was looking at the Precision ball joints also for the reason of less friction, which will allow my shocks to do their job. I'm looking for extremely light extension valving, and anything that holds that up essentially will slow the rate of extension, such as friction in the ball joints.

Like I said, I held a 1/2" taller, "stock for some car", one in my hand..

AND I swear it looked just like ours but is a 1/2" taller..

Looking back on it, I wished I woulda ran home and got one of my spindles and tried it for taper fitment..

Might do it yet sometime??

I had the kit on a 1st gen and you will be blown away with the joints. Less friction, dramatic difference. If you do not buy the adjustable arms will you be able to clear headers with the shims on the arms??

They have to be the best made joints available. The only problem I had was I wanted to change all the ends and lower with the same but not all were available as bolt on. By the way the arms are not really any lighter than stock arms.

cant do the arms, i'm evolving my car into an NHRA stocker. Thanks for the feedback on the balljoints, i'm looking forward to trying them out.

It should make more clearance in the alignment. Hopefully i'll still be able to make them how i want, i want the wheels straight up (zero camber) and as much caster as possible.
