View Full Version : Radio Shack R/C '69 Camaro!
MrDanB Nov 25th, 05, 05:04 PM Anybody see this thing yet? I did the "shop with the wife to make her happy" thing today...I tell her I gotta run next door to Radio Shack. Right by the door, I see these huge boxes with 69 camaros in them! They are a little over 2 feet long, convertible RS-Z. They only had red with black z-stripes! They are 1/2 price right now @ $49.00. The doors, trunk, and hood open, and the steering wheel turns left and right, and the lights and accessories work too!
You should have seen the look on my wifes face when I carried that thing outa there :D Anyone else see/buy this thing? VERY cool toy!
Dano :beers:
p.s. The sales guy comes over to me and says "Oh yeagh man, I love those old Mustangs too" I said..."what Mustang?" The one in your hand!
I said "OHHHHHHHHH, you mean this C-A-M-A-R-O?" He turned beet red...gulp, umm oh Yeagh, I'm a Chevy guy too bro....(anything to make a sale)

MrDanB Nov 25th, 05, 07:31 PM You got me again Tom! You're pretty slick with that web tv setup ;) Now I'm just waiting for the battery pack to charge up so I can burn rubber (or scare the dog :D ) This is what it says on the packaging: "Your camaro reaches much higher speeds than most radio controlled vehicles..." Even the toy version is quicker
Dano :beers:

jerry67 Nov 25th, 05, 08:29 PM I got one too, now I'm trying to figure out what the best battery to get is,This is what I read at howstuffworks.com: "The batteries are rated in mAh: milliAmpere-hours. This is a measure of how long the battery will last before it needs recharging" They come in 7.2 and 9.6 volts also, so which one did you get?
Here are radio shacks batteries and chargers: http://www.radioshack.com/family/index.jsp?cp=2032056&categoryId=2032147&pg=1
Heres the article about batteries:
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/models/rc-cars/newbie-guide/section-8.html
I bought the model 23-342 battery and charger but now I think I could have got a better one for a few more dollars. I would like it to have as much HP and torque as possible but not have to charge the battery every 5 minutes
MrDanB Nov 25th, 05, 11:49 PM Jerry,
The guy at R.S. told me to stick with the recommended battert, because they get pretty warm and can apparently cause damage if run too long with a battery that's too strong for it. He grabbed one off the shelf and a 9-volt and said to have fun :D I put the rear tires on a thick stack of newspapers, then hit the "throttle" full boar! The papers go flyin and scare the dog real well :) Best toy I've bought in a long time...
