I need some general help in determining if the 69 Yenko camaro I'm looking at buying is real or a clone. I have several mustangs and there are small tells that signal if a car is a real GT or HI-Po car or a fake. Are there any similiar things on the Yenko other than VIN or build codes, things like a special type of bracket or some other unique piece or part?? Any help is greatly appreciated, the last thing I want is to alot of $$$$$ into a piece of junk. Thanks again.

Heres a different link to the sYc's posted VINs for 69 Yenko Camaros.

Theres also partial VINs on the firewall by the heater blower motor hole and on the passengers side cowl vent that can be seen from the outside. If your going to spend big $$$$ for the car ask the seller to remove the Cowl Vent panel so you can check the numbers against the VIN on the dash. Also Contact Brian Henderson over at the Yenko site for other items as he knows these cars as well as anyone.

An easy place to start is the 140 speedo and BE rear

The 140 speedo is a separate COPO option (included 15 inch wheels and larger front sway bar) and not all COPOs had this extra option.
A BE code rear would be a definite tell-tale sign.

Not many '69 COPO Camaros had the 9737 (sports car conversion), but, I believe, all of the 201 '69 Yenko 9561 Camaros did.

Here's a good link on the Yenko site:
