View Full Version : NOS liquid traction
Run269 Oct 19th, 04, 09:29 AM hey guys i need some opinions. i just recieved the NOS liquid traction i won on ebay a few weeks ago. paid some serious money for it but this completes the optioning out of my 69. i believe i now have all options available for this year. can you say luxury model? :D
my question is since this is NOS and i have absolutely no intention of driving this car in the snow...should i mount the system or build a nice display case for show purposes and keep it in the trunk? it came with all original boxes and is in excellant shape.
my car is not numbers matching but is a very nice ground up resto of a true SS (read my sig). i do intend to drive this car and possibly show her at local shows.
i know if i mount the system it will no longer be considered NOS or will it?
anyway...how about some opinions??
thanks guys,
charles
Scott Taylor Oct 19th, 04, 09:34 AM Of course you should mount it. Would you buy a rosewood wheel and toss it in the trunk?
My $.02
Scott.

Scott. I 2nd the mount...lmao on the rosewood wheel.
Run269 Oct 19th, 04, 03:40 PM well guys actually i have the comfort grip wheel, but i didn't pay $2000 for it either. smile.gif
i'll wait a couple more days and see what kind of response i get to this post. but so far it's 2-for mounting and 0-against.
it is the complete kit with all the clips, bolts, hoses, directions, and a really cool looking red switch that goes up under the dash.

Scott. Good point. I bought a mint rosewood wheel today and when my wife saw it she said, keep it in the house and mount it when you show the car. I said crap no, its going on and staying on. (enjoy)

HawaiianCamaro Oct 19th, 04, 06:31 PM Mount it and let folks wonder what it is and enjoy explaining it to them.
What all options have you
orginal and added??
camaroman7d Oct 19th, 04, 08:06 PM I think I would hang on to it and store it in a safe place. It is more of an investment than it is anything else. You will never really use it anyway so what is the use of mounting it? You will only decrease it's value, if or when you ever sell your car this would be something that would make it worth that much more. Will installing it really help you win any awards at shows?
This opinion is coming from someone that is not into the numbers matching, stock resto type of cars, I can enjoy looking at them but, would never own one, only because I like to modify things and I would ruin a rare car if I owned it.
Run269 Oct 19th, 04, 08:48 PM hawaiiancamaro,
she was a shell saved from certain doom. everything from the firewall forward was gone, drivers door gone, rear axle gone, sitting on the floor in a field.
originally an x55 norwood SS, deluxe interior, hugger orange with vinyl top, and black comfortweave seats. it also had the woodgrain dash, radio inserts and horn shroud. front seats were missing and a later models seats installed at some time but rear bench was original. had an orange interior (yuk) that somebody had spray painted black and replaced the carpet with a white shag (lol). oh she was a mess. must have had an am/fm at some time cuz i found the original style rear deck speaker grilles mounted to the rear side panels. didn't know they were original grilles for many years. glad i hung onto them.
i have welded in all new floors and trunk, drop offs, rockers, inner and outer wheelwells, and done patching where needed.
NOS panels include, cowl hood, RS fenders, L+R 1/4's, tailpanel, door skins, upper and lower valances, RS grille, and front inner l+r wheelwells. and an NOS dash pad. i also have an original SS hood for it. yes i have 2 hoods.
since i've had to bring her back from a near death experience i decided to option her out to the max. what the heck ya know? if i'm gonna build it from scratch i might as well build it to suit me. i've read a lot on this site about guys trying for numbers matching politically correct and a lot for do it how you want it. i opted for the do it like you want it. my apoligies to the numbers correct guys.
options i've added:
power windows, oh yeah they cost some $$$
rear defog, A/C, fold down rear seat, RS, courtesy lights, SSBC rear disc, 4:10 12-bolt, muncie m20, console gauges, tach, speed warning, power trunk (yes i know it's not original, but it's cool), poly graphite suspension, koni shocks, ZZZ 345 HP motor, thorley tri-y headers, centerforce II clutch, front and rear spoilers. oh yeah and NOS liquid traction (hehe). i'm sure there's more but it's late and my brain is getting foggy.
where it's at right now:
floors are done and seamsealed, painted and undercoated. i think it'll float now. trunk is painted and sealed, wiring installed, woodgrain installed, windshield wiper drivetrain and motor with RS valve installed, underdash almost done waiting for clock to come back from rebuild. interior painted, tilt column rebuilt, and painted and ready to install. front and rear suspension installed 12-bolt installed, new fuel lines and brake lines on. rear fold down seat brackets in.
i hope to have it ready for the paint shop this winter and final assembly next spring. it's been a long damn time getting to this point now maybe anybody reading this will understand why my sig says...BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS!!!
rock on TC without you guys i never would have gotten this far. many, many thanks to everybody here.
hugger_sixty_nine Oct 20th, 04, 04:14 AM Good job man....I know as I have been there done that. If you want to see my most recent restoration, visit http://www.x33d80.com and you will see what I am talking about. You've done good with your car.
Graeme
Run269 Oct 20th, 04, 07:56 AM thanks hugger,
i have been inspired by your car and your progress for some time now. it's guys like you that keep me going, it's guys like me that keep other guys going. we're all in this together. to see a car that's a little farther along than our own kinda relights the fire to move ahead. to see or hear of a guy who's just getting started brings back fond (and not so fond) memories of where we've been and how far we've really come.
never give up,
charles
WildBillyT Oct 20th, 04, 08:11 PM I'll vote for making a case out of plexy and keeping it in the trunk for shows (properly secured)
