Check this out its a fake Protect-o-Plate. This makes me sick since I have a 69 Pace Car with the original POP. One of the reasons for buying the car was because of the documentation. All this fake stuff going on, when does it stop.

Unfortunately this type of thing seems inevitable as the value of these cars goes up and the technology to create pieces like this gets better. We just have to hope that the people who buy these won't try to represent them as original. But my bet is they will.

I guess that I don't understand how they can get by with this with out having permission from GM to reproduce it. I know how GM made a big deal over the production of the Dynacom 69 convertible body. Don't they have watch dogs out watching for this type of forgery?

GM is probably more concerned with figuring out how to stay solvent than spending time chasing these guys down. Now if this turns into a real money making business like the Dynacorn body they might take a look.

Fortunately there's a place like TC where the authenticity of parts like these POP's can be verified.

Maybe if enough people reported this to e-bay as a potential scam and long term legal problems it may get pulled? Hope so!

Nope, it's not illegal to sell P-O-P's, real or fake (unfortunately) - just VIN plates.

I was looking throught some of the items he has sold and one item puzzled me. It was a door jam plate isn't that the vin tag for like a early 60's model Cheverolet?
