: a friend lost a leg in motorcycle crash.
angelglo Nov 27th, 05, 08:39 PM this is another sad story for me. it is now 7 30 in the pm and i just got word that a close friend just lost his leg in a motorcycle accident. he is also a copper and a member of the swat team with me here in s.f. we have been doing saturation in the areas with numerous homicides in the city. well, my friend was on his way to work ot to help stop the murders and he got hit by another car. his leg got amputated at the scene. i am now on my way to the hospital on this sad day. along with our persona, we are a very active bunch doing everything exciting. we were at work just last night in the same car joking around and laughing and now, he doesnt have much to laugh about and it will probably take a long time to get that same laugh again. he is in his late 20's and young and now life seems to be limited for him for the time being.
anyway, my point being, all you motorcycle riders out there, be careful. i too am a motorcycle rider and in know how dabgerous it can be.

69ratchvlle Nov 27th, 05, 09:39 PM Sorry to hear about your bud's accident Angel..
My thoughts and prayers are with him, his family and his friends...
nikkisdad Nov 27th, 05, 10:16 PM Angel, very hard to read this story. Please let him and his family know they are thought of, and it will not be the end of the world for him. They are doing miraculous work with artificial limbs, and I hope he will be a candidate for one. Please give our best, Mike.
Brackneyc Nov 27th, 05, 10:26 PM Sorry to hear about this accident. A friend of mine lost the lower (just above the knee) part of his left leg a few months ago while riding his bike. He was hit by a girl, and left for dead on the side of the road. She turned herself in a few days later, so the alcohol (supposedly) would be out of her system. She crossed the center line, and with the curb on his right, he could not go over any further. She had no insurance. (Her father had pulled it just days before to "teach her a lesson") My friend is getting along petty good now, and is adjusting to his "new" leg. He was, and still is the wrestling coach at the high school he teaches at. He is a special Ed teacher, and he has served as an inspiration to all that know him, and those just meeting him.
I hope your friend makes a rapid recovery. Tell him he has thousands of new friends pulling for him.

Black69 Nov 28th, 05, 10:37 AM Really sorry to hear about your friend, but on the upside, (if there is one) I was watching an episode of "Cops" and saw a cop with an artificial leg chase down a bad guy and actually caught an cuffed him without hardly breaking a sweat. It was good to see someone who had lost a leg and was so quick on his feet. I think the bad guy was thinking how easy he could get away. Not so easy! I also went through the Academy and met a guy who had a little limp. While running the mile with him I found out later that he had an atificial leg. Wouldn't have known it until he took off his sweat pants. He could outrun most of us.
