Hey Folks,
I hope that someone here can help me find a replacement part. I just installed new lower ball joints that I got from Rick's, but in the process of pressing them in I screwed up the rubber caps that retain the grease. I ripped one during the install and took the other one off so I wouldn't rip it and now I can't get it back on (since it is/wascrimped on with a metal retainer band). Now I feel like a real D.A. but the damage is done and I need to fix the problem.

Where can I find replacement rubber boots with out buying the whole assembly? They also need to be attached without crimping them on since that would require taking them back out of the A-arms. I know that I can get some polyurethane units from Energy Suspension but I'd rather have rubber. Has anyone here used the polyurethane ones?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a couple of damaged ones also and didn't know I could get them from ES thanks for the heads up. The red ones will match the paint of the car.

Energy Suspension makes them. They also make polyurethane tie rod seals.

Have you tried your local NAPA for the OE style boots?

I guess the parts guy at the first NAPA store that I called didn't have a clue since he told me that they weren't available. The guy at the second NAPA store that I called just recently sold his 69 SS convertible that he restored and he knew where to look for the caps (good parts counter guys are worth their weight in gold sometimes!). The boots aren't exactly like the originals since these just slide over the ball joint instead of being held on with a crimp band, but at this point it beats replacing the entire ball joint since I only screwed up the boots.

Got a part # for future site reference?
The NAPA part # is 650-1178 and the cost was 3.76 each. Hope this helps anyone else that may be in need.

Does anyone have a NAPA part number for upper ball joint boots?
