Laid down my initial primer of high build 2k urethane. Looks like spatter paint! Did I do something wrong? Going to take alot of sanding to get it smooth, mixed 4 to 1 air was good. When I used normal primer was smooth? Any advice appreciated, thanks

keep sanding, most likely, you will have to lay down a second coat of primer. good luck

You more than likely didnt use enough air pressure. As long as you mixed correctly, you wont go wrong. If its that bad, knock it down with some 180 and re-prime.

2k is a high build primer which is thicker than standard primer. check the tip on your gun to see if it is stock if so you need to go larger. best thing to do is setup a gun for jambing/painting and a gun for primer.

Do you have the data sheet for the primer? What about reducer? You should have primer, hardner, and reducer. I think mine is 4-1-1. What brand is it?

The needle was 2.0 as was the nozzle. It is a 4:1 mixture and the paint was thick in the can. A Finish Pro brand. As the cup got lower almost to bottom, the paint thinned out and seemed watery? I think to knock it down may take more than 180, very rough.

Sound like it was not stirred up enough.... I would sand it all off as it may cause problems later down the road....

I agree with ragtopman not enought air pressure. Happened to me with 2k primer just gave hvlp gun more air pressure. Test spray on something first to dial it in.It got watery at the bottom because the solids sank and sprayed first.Try to keep it stirred up
