Yeah sure. N658560 VIN with a 10C tag. Off by 4 months.

Using my binoculars to look athe computer screen I think the tag is the real deal; sadly, the car is not. C-

William, I think you were a little harsh on the Green L78 but on this one, bash away. I personally like the booster and 396 emblem installation.

Bill was correct on the items that were wrong on the L78. It looks nice, but those are a fair # of issues for a car at that level. For $82K, I'd expect better.... Notice how little gets said when a highend car comes thru that is correct.

This car is done more as a street rod, I sure hope noone thinks it's restored to original. So the only thing really wrong are the basics - tags don't match.

For reference:

TR 711 71 71 PNT
10C X22

Yea...something is way jacked up there..I'm no expert But...I think the tag is fake.....It appears to line up to be a 10C of 68 car....No X code should be there..

My RS/SS was a 10B (68) car and was within 600 numbers of this one...

There is other problems with this as well...that I won't go into

hmmm.....

How do you determine the cowl tag build date and the vin # as far as being correct for each other.

There are lists that show the correlation between VIN and build date, check this site and the CRG site.

The photo is poor but I actually believe the tag is real. A VIN of N658560 was built June 1969. I have been in this hobby for 30 years, tags have been swapped as long as I remember.

As for the Rallye green L78, the winning contestant saw the comments about the car on this site and is now concerned about it being misrepresented. Stay tuned.

This will help with the VIN range per month.

It amazes me the idiotic things which are getting done to these cars this day and time.

Hey, cut him a break. He did confess that it's just a RS 396, not a RS/SS. This is apparently the long lost, one-off, COPO RS 396. :clonk:

No Kurt, I realize the items were incorrect that William mentioned, I was more referring to the quality of the resto. Aside from being completely over marked
under the hood, I felt it was better than an "amateur" job thats all, no harm meant or intended, OK?

There are plenty of things wrong with the car if you look at it. I particularly laugh when I see things like spoilers with power antenna masts and comfort weave interiors with standard door panels. But thats just me.
