i have sbc in a 69 and want to level the front w/ the back. i have the rear dropped 1.5" w/ hotchkis lowering leafs and look to put the hotchkis 2" drop coils on the front or maybe coilovers if i have the money.i am running hooker supercomps which are long tube headers.. will i have a lot of issues with cleareance. i already scrape a speedbump it i go over it to hard. am i looking for trouble to lower the front or will i have to get a set of shorty's?

I have not got mine put together yet. But if you have a 4 speed, forget the shorties. I have not found any for a 4 speed.

I have the 2 inch lowering springs on my 67. The long tube headers hung well below the subframe and would constantly be scraping on something. I switched to Tri-y headers. They are still full length, but because the collector area is made up of 2 tubes rather than 4, they are almost flush with the subframe. My clearance problems pretty much went away.
I have a manual tranny and small block. The tri-y's clear the clutch linkage and bell crank easily. They also clear the power steering box and oil filter by a wider margin than the 4 into 1 headers.

610's, 245 nittos front 275 rear-no problems, good clearance even over bumps.

My Hooker Comps are painted not coated so I was able to heat the tubes on the drivers side header and with a floor jack under the collector bend it upwards. I also cut the collector flange off both sides and rotated for clearance then re-welded and painted. I got another 1/2" of clearance just changing to proper/correct motor mounts. Now this week I lost about 1/4" to some new wheels and tires but a run around town today proved to be okay. Using Hotchkis 1.5 rear and 2.0 front drop. It never ends.
Edit: Forgot to mention that after all that it had to go to the muffler shop the have the exhaust pipes tweaked back to the headers.

Here is some good info on Tri-y headers made by Thorley.http://www.dougthorleyheaders.com/tech_basics_triy.html
I bought mine at Summit for about 330. They have thick flanges and are made well. They also come with a special gasket that has held up very well on mine.
Here are a couple threads about Tri-y's
