I just received my spread nut tool I bought from Rick's Camaro. I know this may sound stupid but can anyone tell me how to use it? I am planning on using it tomorrow but just playing with it I can't seem to figure it out. Thanks for the help in advance...

I guess I should say it is the tool that will be used to put in the nuts that go under the console and shifter.

you mean a nutsert tool?
Depending on the kit, it probably came with a bunch of different sized adapters and nutserts. First, pic out the size you want, probably 1/4-20?
The adapters have a black threaded rod with a silver barrel also threaded on it. If you look at the plack parts, you'll see that the threaded end that sticks past the threaded end of the silver part are all the same size, this end screws into the tool first. Then screw the silver part into the tool, too.
The other end of the adapters are different thread sizes, for the different size nutserts. You did attach the 1/4"-20 one, right? OK, then... with the adapter on the tool, screw a nutsert onto the adapter. Then stick it into the hole and squeeze. It works like a pop rivet tool, 'cept it don't pop. When it's tight, unscrew it by turning the round silver knob on the top of the tool counterclockwise....
Whew, hard to describe such a thing... woulda been easier to post a pic.

I think I understand what you are saying, the one from Rick's just came with one size but I bought the nutserts too. I will try it tomorrow. Thanks for the reply I thought I might have to put another nut on the bottom of the black piece to squeeze up on the the nutsert itself. The way I tried it the nutsert would spin when I tried to tighten it. Again thanks...
