aren21 Dec 3rd, 05, 07:55 PM Hey everyone, Im going to be paiting my camaro soon, and was wondering if anyone knows any reputalbe paint/body shops in the Los Angeles area. I already got a quote for $4,000 and it includes:
removal of vinyl top
4 layers of paint + 4 layers clear coat
installing 3 peice rear spoiler
all emlbems
BTW its going to be some kind of red with black stripes, probably cranberry red.
is this a good deal or should I keep looking? Also if anyone has any pics of cranberry red on any car, please post them.
Thanks a lot!!
Toby Keen Dec 4th, 05, 03:52 AM First, welcome to the site. There are some real knowlegable people here that are always willing to help. As for your question, I would ask exactly what they plan to do. Are they going to strip you old paint first? Are they doing any body work? Any dis-assembly? Under hood, door jambs, under deck lid? There will be some holes to fill after the vinyl top is removed. Does the price include sanding and rubbing the car (some people prefer this after painting)?
Help us out with a few more details.
aren21 Dec 5th, 05, 04:57 PM Thanks for the reply, as for the car, the paint will be stiripped off to just bare metal, bumpers will be romoved along with the hood. Door jambs and the back side of the hood will be painted, engine compartment wil be painted. The car only has a few tiny dings and those will all be fixed as well. It will be wet sanded, etc. The guy does flawless work without any orange peel or anything like that. It comes with a 5 year warranty as well for cracking or peeling or anything. So what do you guys think? Is it worth it for $4,000?
Thanks again.
RamAirDave Dec 5th, 05, 11:40 PM $4K for an "inside-out" paint job (meaning all apart, jambs, etc), with stripes also, isnt a bad deal at all. I would suggest shopping around some, but if his work is the quality you say it is, he may be the guy to go with. Also try to get an idea of the turnaround on the job. Too many horror stories out there about cars ending up in "body shop jail" for years.

Toby Keen Dec 6th, 05, 02:07 AM I agree with Dave. If you have seen examples of the guy's work and have talked to others that have cars that have been done for 4 or 5 years, this may be the guy. $4,000 isn't a bad deal for everything you mention. It doesn't cost anything to shop around, however.
