i am looking to drop the front of my car to level it w/ the rear i have the hotchkis rear leafs and i have a small block car ... i am thinking the 2" drops will be to low and make my headers hit(they are hooker supercomps) but i heard the big block springs on a small block will drop it like an inch and a half...is this true or what about the eibach coild any suggestions

yup, sounds like you got it
the Hotchkis BB and SB springs are the same spring rate, just the BB springs are taller
give them a call, tech line is great, and should tell you the same thing they hold me, 1/2" taller
oh and get hotchkis sway bar if you can
and summit had the best prices i found online

What springs are on there now? If you have "old" stock springs on now the SB Hotchkiss only dropped my front about an inch. If you have fairly new stock springs you may see 1 1/2" drop. With the BB springs from old springs you may not drop much at all. If any.

measure how high it is from the center of the hub to the fender lip, one of the old threads had a long talk about the ride height with hotchkis springs

Then like me you should only see about an inch drop with the SB springs.

I used the Eibachs on my SB 68, and they were about half inch lower than the tired OE springs. The Eibachs were very nice "middle" rate springs, at 502 lb/in. The Hotchkis and GW springs are up around 600 lb/in, so they are pretty stiff. They're okay, as long as that's what you want. My 68 with the Eibachs and poly bushings throughout handled like a go kart, but it was a little rough on the beat up PA back roads.
As far as hitting the header tubes, you might, but the spring rate plays there too. The 68 had full length Dynomax headers (never looked at them side by side with Hookers, so I'm not sure where they hang in relation to Hookers. In 5 years, I hit the headers only once on a very sharp bump at 35 mph that I didn't see coming. Stiff springs don't compress as much or as fast, so as long as you don't regularly make a habit of driving over speed bumps at 50 mph, you should be okay.
