View Full Version : Rear Multi Springs Help...
MrDanB Dec 6th, 05, 08:18 PM I've got my new rear axle assembled and ready to bolt in. My 69 car was a mono leaf from the factory, I put multi leafs in it 4 years ago, but they are kinda ratty now. I want new multi leafs, but sooo many people make/sell them now, I'm not sure which brands are "good". I also notice that many are 4 leaf and many are 5 leaf, but both are advertised as 69 camaro rear leaf springs  Is there an all inclusive kit with the springs, pads, hardware etc?
Thanks-Dano
Try www.eatonsprings.com
They have the installtion kits available and can answer any questions. Good customer service. I went with their 4 leafs.

HarleyD67 Dec 6th, 05, 09:48 PM Eaton springs are great, but also take a good look at Hotchkis.

It has a great ride. Good quality hardware, and with only 3 leaves doesn't look as out of place with "mono" spring perches. The shackles are nice and heavy.

Welcome to Team Camaro!
We have a great Search feature in the tech forums! Give it a try and do some light reading. You'll find countless threads discussing the same questions you bring up.
Again, welcome to Team Camaro! It's always good to have new blood onboard!

Galloway Dec 7th, 05, 05:30 AM Got my Hotchkis leafs from Jegs last month. Putting them in soon.
Farm Boy Dec 7th, 05, 09:04 AM I got these 126 lb. rate springs from Tamraz on ebay 1967-81 Camaro Firebird 4 Leaf Rear Springs Multi leaf (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967-81-Camaro-Firebird-4-Leaf-Rear-Springs-Multi-leaf_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33584QQitemZ801947 5259QQrdZ1) for my ‘67.
The leaves are baised to the front of the spring like the Mopar super stock springs. It eliminated wheel hop on my car. Nice springs for the money and they don’t gouge on the shipping cost.
I called Tamraz to make sure they had them in stock;). They did and I had them on my porch in less than one week.
Here are some pictures of the project: 8.5 Ten bolt swap (http://geocities.com/sdampier@sbcglobal.net/Team_Camaro/Rear)
MrDanB Dec 7th, 05, 10:11 AM Thanks for the replies! That's what I meant about there being sooo many vendors to choose from...When I performed my SEARCH yesterday, I saw a ton of threads, and read many of them! I wanted some fresh perspective from those who have done it AND been happy with the results. I have narrowed it down to a handful, so I will keep reading the SEARCH results and make an informed decision...
Thanks again!

MrDanB Dec 7th, 05, 03:49 PM It all started when I decided to become Joe's "motivational coach" for keeping him busy on that car! Now it's backfiring worse than a Subaru Justy on low octane and I'm eating humble pie  I am officially gonna back off for the winter Joe 'cause I know it's freezing there in NY...But come spring time mister, you better be crawling around that beast and gettin' r done! Now where was I? Oh yeagh the springs...I think I'm gonna go with the Eaton's because the salesguy was knowledgeable, they have a great selection of parts and the price was a little better. I still have a couple more to check into as well...Thanks again for the warm welcome you knuckleheads ;)

HwyStarJoe Dec 8th, 05, 03:38 AM Dan,
You lookin' for the factory stance and performance, or something else?
That'll narrow down the field in a heartbeat.
MrDanB Dec 8th, 05, 06:05 AM I rebuilt the entire front end a few years ago and because the front springs are new, the front end sits a little higher than the rear...I want the rear to sit just a bit higher than the front without the 70's "look at my chrome diff cover" stance ;) The Eaton 4-leaf springs are looking like the set that will work. the springs + install kit is just under 400 bucks to my door... I could also cut a few turns off the front springs, which would make the stance "look right", but it's not the right way to do it and I would only save a few bucks...

mike p Dec 8th, 05, 04:45 PM I don't know if you changed your axle perches when you went to multi-leaf, if not you can also purchase 3 leafs which are direct replacements for the monos. JC Whitney sells them, same as the Nova springs. I found mine at a local spring shop in St. Louis.
