I have a 68 and would like to strap a tach to the steering column, like I have seen on many other Camaros. What size tach to people use and is there a certain mount I need? I do not want to bolt a tach to the dash. What brand tachometer should I buy?

i used to use an autogage and one of those giant 5" hose clamps to hold it down... worked great :)

Is that a 5 inch tach or more like a 3 3/4?

its the smaller 3-4" one, anything bigger just gets in the way

I used to use a Sun mini tach. It's only like 2.5" in diameter, small enough to strap straight up on the column and almost still see the high beam indictator

So how does one strap a nice little tachometer to the steering column? Is there a mount that someone sells?

they come with a mount, you just add a big hose clamp, and maybe a peice of inner tube if you don't want your column scratched
