Seems like the crossmember would need to be slid back if i wanted to drop the transmission pan. Does that look right? The transmission mount is lined up with the holes in the x-member ok.

it's been 20 years for me, but several posts recently have asked about exactly that, I think it's normal.

Yes, it's normal.

I got fed up with it on my car and cut the lip of the Xmember from around the rear of the tranny pan and welded the seam back together. Doesn't look original, but I don't have to lift the rear of the tranny to pull the pan.

Ditto, I did the same thing on mine to fit an aluminum deep pan.

Looks just like the set up I just got done working on, Only a whole lot cleaner and nicer. I had to move the c-member back about 1/2 inch to get to the rear pan bolts.

That's how the 67 I had with the automatic was as well. Total pain in the rear.

Ditto, to all above. Another option would be an aftermarket cross member!

As others have said, this normal for a THM350 install. Just be sure the three shifter holes on the crossmember are on the driver side when x-member is installed.

This gives the correct tilt for the isolator/mount.

They are a couple inches from center, and the only holes in it other than the 2 big ones for the trans mount.

At least with the loaded sub on the garage floor it won't be hard to correct.

If you guys are refering to the Muncie shifter holes for a manual trans, the 3 holes on the crossmember would have to go on the DRIVER's side (left side) where the shifter bolts on.

there spot where the mount sits on the cross member should be angled down at the rear slightly if I rememeber correctly.

The cross member in the way of the rear pan bolts is the way GM built it. I have trimmed many cross members over the years as mentioned. cut the narrow section out , weld the seam up
