Hello all,
I'm looking for a little direction here. I installed a 8.5 10 bolt from a nova into my 68 Camaro. The rear-end was rebuilt by a well known shop using new axles, gears and an auburn posi. After about 900 miles I've developed a noise that seems to be coming from the left rear wheel area. The noise is a metal on metal click/clunk that only seems to happen when I am taking a right turn. At first I thought it might be coming from the posi unit as the gears disengaged, but the clunking repeats with the rotation of the axle. And the noise comes more from the left wheel area, not the differential. So as I continue in the turn it clunks a few times as the axle rotates and the stops as I straighten out of the turn. I would like to take the car back to the rear end shop but it is a long drive in the dead of winter with no defrost/heat. The rear-end seems fine otherwise. No gear whine, posi works great. any ideas? Could it be a bad wheel bearing?
