: Am I missing something here?

I am putting my motor back in, and it has been a while, but I can not seem to figure out what I need or how the clutch fork is connected to the z-bar...maybe I am having a memory lapse here...I have the z-bar and the side that goes towards the motor has a threaded rod on it...but I see no way to connect it to the clutch fork and the clutch fork seems to have a "cup" on the end as if something rides in it...does anyone have a pucture or know what part I should be searching through my totally disorganized garage for?

p.s. it is a 350 motor and a muncie 4 speed transmission...

thanks...

That threaded rod should be 2 peices, adjustable, with a locknut and a tit on the end. The tit just fits in the cup on the fork. It doesn't attach, it's just kept there by the spring pressure.

I dont see it anywhere...when you say tit, is it a special part or do you have a picture of it? it must be somewhat rounded or something to fit the cup...i have checked all of my 500+ pictures and dont see it!!!! where can I buy one of these from if I need too?

That looks like a homemade rod for the fork. The end of the rod you have there would go into the cup on the fork. This setup would leave you no adjustment at all. I would recommend replacing this with the original as shown in the prior picture.

you could probably adjust it, but I would replace it soon.

That's an interesting home-made rod. It looks adjustable and looks like it would work just fine, but it doesn't look as strong as the original part, so if you utilize a heavy-duty pressure plate, it may be too much strain for that threaded rod.

I would do as JimM suggests and buy the factory piece. It's only a few bucks.

There are two types one for BB and one for SB. The one posted by ZZmike is correct for SB. Check out Ricks as they have both

Yep,

The reason I posted the picture of the small block version is because Liveinaz posted not too long ago about the 350 he is putting in his car.

Cheers,

Mike

A threaded rod made out of a long Grade-8 bolt should do fine, imho.

I would put two nuts on it and lock them and then use them to turn it for adjust it! Then back them off apart and use one nut to lock it at the pivot gizmo so it can't back off..

BUT I gotta say I learned something b/c I didn't know there BB and SB clutch adjustement rods????
