Im lookin into buying a 67 pro street camaro its not a rs or ss, all body work is done and its been tubbed and caged all professionally. All tin work is done and most of the interior is there. Minus some trim parts the car is basically complete minus the motor and tranny basically just a roller. What do you guys think its worth based on the info ive given? hes asking 12k??

$12k, seams to be high, I have no experience when the car has been altered. You are leaving out a lot of info to really judge the car. Disk breaks? Suspension? Rearend? Wheels? Paint? Location? A picthure would really help.

You get the experts on line later this evening, let's see what that have to say...

Well I dont have any pics of the car, but it has a ford 9in w/ spool and it has weld wheels on it. The body im told is ready for paint and is in perfect shape. I imagine it has discs in front but havent seen it yet. Has a fuel cell and fuel pump, all wiring is there but it needs to be re-done Im told all parts are there minus a few trim pieces and the car is very much streetable and all work has been done professionally. Im going to see the car tomorrow so any info or advice would be appreciated? We are supposed to trade my boat for his car but he thinks his car is worth more and the trade isnt gonna be fair so he wants me to make up the difference im just trying to see why he thinks it isnt fair?????? Here is my boat... http://sacramento.craigslist.org/car/118296606.html

Probably because he's asking $12K for the car and you're only asking $8500. for a trade on a Camaro. Therefore he isn't going to want to trade straight across, he knows you'd sell or trade the boat at a value of $8500.

Yah you have a point and I realize that too but he is trying to justify his camaro being worth 12k because thats what it cost to put the cage and back half into it? I was selling my boat or asking for a trade for 8500 because of the winter, but im sure id get more for it in the summer I have 15k in that boat but im not gonna ask 15k for it? I think its a good trade I mean he is the one who came at me about wanting to trade?

Has he seen your ad on the boat? If he has no matter how you explain it in his mind you are asking to get his Camaro for $8500. That's asking him to discount $3500. and you get full price for yours. Maybe that's all the car is worth, but first gens have really climbed in price in the last couple years. $8500 doesn't buy much anymore.

huh maybe i should ask that much for my 68 drag car when i'm done. i started welding the rear frame in today. i have a chevy rear end! posi. it has been narrowed so much it looks like the car will tip over on its side. lol

heck i was only going to ask $4,000-4,500 for a rolling chassis. maybe i should rethink this........

if not rolling i know where a 427 ci BBc is i could lay into her. i have tons of 2 spds laying around the garage.....then i would be asking 12k!

A modified car is worth what you want to pay harder to sell than a restored camaro.Frame rails and cage "professionally done" are only worth money to me if they have been inspected and have a NHRA chassis certification tag on it.Just my opinion. I have been thru that and ended up cutting all cage and chassis work out and started over from scratch.I paid for the professional job twice!

2x67 has hit the nail on the head.
if the car is professionally (or at least well) done, and has quality parts on it, its worth that as a roller. but, it sounds like its a ways off from roller status, as i know it. a roller should need motor/trans and some other small items to run, this car sounds more like an unfinished project. not that thats a bad thing either, but it could be.
i would personally pass unless it is or can be certified as far as chassis work, regardless if you plan to race it or not, and built with qaulity parts. if you personally are not familiar with this type of chassis work, bring someone who is, a car can look real nice but be a major cobble job.
as a general guide, my buddy just sold his 70 nova SS as a roller, everything but engine/trans 3rd member and his nitrous parts, for 18K. this is a show quality car with a chassis cert to 7.50, that had gone 7.70, so it was the real deal. just as a rough comparison.
good luck on it at any rate.

WOW listen to this..... So I went to look at this car and when I pull up its the same Pro Street Camaro I was gonna trade this guy off of craigslist 2 weeks earlier!!! The deal didnt go through because his wife wanted cas and not him to have another toy. THIS WAS THE SAME CAR this guy bought it for $8200 or less and tried to flop a story on me about it being worth 12k and that he had all kinds of money into it!!! I called him out on it and he denied it, he knew nothing about the car except what was in front of him and when I called him on the phone he said it was just a reg camaro but when I went there he claimed it was a rs/ss????????? What a scammer the body was rough, the cage work was so so and the car wasnt close to being a roller missing all kinds of parts!!!! Its going to be on ebay now I feel for the guy who buys it!!!! I just cant believe people this guy lied to my face!!! I called him out on it a few times saying this was the car I was gonna trade for and that the other guy had it for sale at 8200 he denied and denied it I even had pictures of the car at my house and told him id show him and he still denied it!!!!!!

Thanks for all the advice, ive been looking and looking and LOOKING for a 67-8 camaro project to get in trade for my boat project. I think my best bet is to give up and wait till summer my boat will sell quick and its alot easier to get a camaro with cash in hand. thanks again
