If I have a 67 Camaro with the stock 275hp engine, p/g trany & 2.73 10 bolt rear, & a 16 foot flat bed car trailer, & the stock trailer hitch for a 1st gen. camaro, can I "trailer" home another 1st gen. camaro???? Thanks :)

whew.... depends on the rating on that hitch... I can't see towing more than 2000 lbs with a 200 lb tonque weight with a firstgen

The "Stock" hitch on a Camaro was a dealer installed piece that attached to the bumper and had a couple of bolts that attached to the bottom of the rear trim panel. Barely strong enough to tow a garden trailer or something like you would tow a 4 wheel ATV sized trailer with. You'll never tow a trailer and another car with one of those.

Rental trucks are pretty cheap nowadays, how far are you going? I use the $20 HomeDepot/Lowes 1 hour rental flat beds all the time :)

Well... that would be the most extreme use of the trailer "hitch" I can think of. I would like to use the trailer for other things too, like going to Home Depot for lumber occasionally, going down to San Antonio, TX. for "free" firewood, things like that. What I seem to be getting from y'all is.... the "stock" hitch itself isn't up to the job. If I have a custom hitch built with a higher rating, do ya think everything else would be okay? Thanks for everyone's replies. :)

regardless of hitch grade or hp you have to look at wheelbase. it is shorter than a standard 1/2 ton pickup. it would walk the car going up hill and push it going down. even the slightest grade. besides what are you going to attach it too w/o making major mod to the undercarriage and not to mention the fact it would be ass ugly. this is a trick question right???

Using a car that weighs the same as the one you're going to tow. No! Totally unsafe and what about the weight of the trailer. If you do, I hope you have trailer brakes on it and only going a few blocks for the car. Secondondly, if your camaro has drums on all fours, good luck stopping on a large downhill grade. Hold on you're going for a ride.
Sorry to say with your set up, stick to picking up free firewood.
Just my opinion.

I found a web site (http://www.internetautoguide.com/car-specifications/09-int/1997/chevrolet/camaro/) that showed the gross weights for a 97 camaro. Closes information i could find. The weights are listed in kg, I converted them as follows;
Gross weight-3240 lbs.
Gross towable weight(including trailer)-998 lbs
Tounge weight-99 lbs.
While this is not exact specs for a 67, i would imagine it is pretty close.
As you can see, towing some toys would be ok. Anything else would not be recommended.
I would hate to see you hurt one 67 camaro, let alone two at the same time.

Well okay y'all, you talked me out of it. I had to ask because I really don't know anything about towing stuff at all. I DO KNOW that many years ago I saw this guy with a 1st gen. camaro on a major fwy here in Dallas. I remember looking over at him because the camaro looked soo sharp. He was towing one HUMONGOUS sailboat. I mean this sailboat looked big enough (out of the water) to take out deep water ocean sailing. I don't know though, ya know? He might have been having a terrible time driving & I just didn't realize what a tough time he was having. Maybe he had to learn the hard way. ???? :) I don't want to have to buy a pick-up. I thought maybe I could just buy a trailer instead. Oh well....

it would be if he was racing a guy who has the same set up. ie. car 1 leaves from texas, car 2 with a head wind leaves from maine at the same time, who gets to virginia first?

Does the other Camaro roll? You could flat tow it with a tow bar.

Spend the money and buy a old 3/4 ton truck and put class III hitch/reciever on it, if it doesn't already have it. That will solve all of your towing needs. You can find them pretty cheap, especially in Texas.

Ya something like a '59 Apache. Those things look mean. I see em going for as low as 1200 on ebay

I agree with the other posters. It would be very unsafe to try this. The Camaro's short wheel base and the light weight could spell disaster. You could end up getting hurt and turning your "tow" vehicel into a total loss.

Can you? Maybe. Should you? No. I'm not going to go into the physics of the situation. Just don't do it. Rent the proper equipment and do it as safely as possible.

It would be ashamed to see TWO first generation camaro's totalled on the side of the road, the tow vehicle as well as the camaro being towed, its a no brainer, id tow with the proper vehicle/truck.
