I got a '68 base coupe camaro that was a original V-8, automatic. It's stock everything for as I can tell. Got a 10-bolt rear I'm thinking is stock because no special gearing and open single traction. I'm looking for a posi unit to fit but got lost real quick with the axle spline and ring gear size. I need to know of a way to identify the rear and it components without tearing it apart first. Is there any way of telling this? Jeg's lists applications for 67-69 as a 26 spline 8.2. Does that sound right? 26 spline most common for my 68 base? Thanks

If it's the original rear, it's an 8.2"/26spline.

Best bet would be to get the numbers off the axel tube and run them.
I went with BigGearHead (Freddie) to get all my parts for a complete rebuild. He is a member here, and is great to deal with IMO.

The 8.2 10 bolt has 28 spline axles and a 25 spline pinion. The 7.5 10 bolt had 26 spline axles, not the 8.2. If you need parts send me an email.

I have a brand new in box eaton posi for a 8.2 Part # 19603-1. Don't know spline count. Going with a dana 60 because I can't afford a 12 bolt. Willing to sell 10 bolt eaton.
