I am getting ready to buy a built 2004R and I am in the market for a transmission cooler. Any recommendations and suggestions on where to mount or not mount them? I am leaning toward getting an aluminum tube and fin style cooler, see link below, and mounting it on the lower front of the radiator support.

Thanks in advance

They work pretty good when you don't have much space i.e. street rod. But if you want to get the job done better for a lot less then try a "plate" style cooler. B&M has some for about $50-60, but check parts stores and Farm & Fleet or Farm King down there. I got a Hayden on sale for @ $35 for the larger one. Does a great job. You can just use the "zip" mount to mount directly to the radiator. I just wanted a separate mount. I'm running 2 coolers. (trans.) and (engine oil)

If you have radiator with a built in trans cooler I have a smaller one "new" sitting in the garage.

Here's pic's of my set up if your interested.

Streetrod Stuff makes a good product. You may want to connect it after the radiator and before the trans to gain extra cooling.

The top tubing from the rad tank is the return to the trans, you should follow the GM's rule for the additional cooler, ie, fill from the bottom, self-purging.
